Terms of Use

1. Introduction

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the SAPRF platform at saprf.co.za (the "Platform"), operated by the South African Precision Rifle Federation (NPC) ("SAPRF", "we", "us", or "our").

By creating an account, registering for membership, or using any feature of the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Platform.

2. Platform Purpose

The Platform is the official digital infrastructure of the South African Precision Rifle Federation for:

  • Membership registration and management
  • Match event listings, registration, and coordination
  • Score recording, result publication, and standings calculation
  • Season rankings and qualification tracking
  • Federation administration and compliance reporting

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account on the Platform. Accounts for persons under 18 must be created with the knowledge and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on the minor's behalf.

You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account and keep it updated.

4. Account Responsibilities

  • You may only create one account per person. Duplicate accounts may be deactivated without notice.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
  • You must notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account.
  • You must not impersonate another person or provide false identity information.
  • SAPRF reserves the right to suspend or deactivate any account that violates these Terms.

5. Membership

5.1 Membership Types

The Platform supports paid memberships as determined by SAPRF. Membership fees, benefits, and conditions are set by the Federation and may be updated from time to time.

5.2 Payment

Membership fees are payable via the methods specified on the Platform (currently EFT). Your membership becomes active once payment is confirmed by an administrator.

5.3 Non-Refundable

Membership fees are non-refundable once payment has been confirmed, except where required by applicable law or at the sole discretion of SAPRF.

5.4 Lapsed Membership

If your membership expires and is not renewed, your account remains accessible but your status changes to "lapsed". Lapsed members may continue to view their historical data but may face higher registration fees for events and may not be eligible for certain competition benefits.

6. Match Registration & Participation

  • Match registration is subject to availability, eligibility, and payment of applicable fees.
  • Registration fees are set per match and vary based on membership status (active member, lapsed member, non-member).
  • SAPRF and match directors reserve the right to refuse or cancel a registration at their discretion.
  • Withdrawal policies, including any applicable refund windows, are specified on individual event pages.
  • Participants must comply with all safety rules, range regulations, and match procedures.

7. Scores, Rankings & Public Display

7.1 Score Recording

Match scores are recorded by match directors and administrators. Scores may be imported from external scoring systems. SAPRF takes reasonable care to ensure accuracy but does not guarantee that scores are error-free.

7.2 Public Information

By participating in SAPRF-sanctioned events, you consent to the public display of your:

  • Name and province
  • Division and category classifications
  • Match scores, normalised scores, and rankings
  • Season standings and qualification status

This is standard practice for competitive sports federations and is necessary for the transparent operation of the ranking system.

7.3 Score Disputes

If you believe a recorded score is incorrect, you must raise the matter with the relevant match director or SAPRF administration. SAPRF will investigate and may correct scores at its discretion. All administrative score changes are logged in the audit trail.

8. Acceptable Use

When using the Platform, you agree not to:

  • Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform or its systems
  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Platform's operation
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access or extract data from the Platform without permission
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users

9. Intellectual Property

  • The SAPRF name, logo, branding, and all Platform content (excluding user-submitted data) are the intellectual property of SAPRF or its licensors.
  • You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from Platform content without prior written permission from SAPRF.
  • You retain ownership of information you submit (e.g., equipment details, profile data), but grant SAPRF a non-exclusive licence to use this data for Platform operation, federation administration, and reporting.

10. Equipment & Firearm Data

The Platform allows users to record rifle configurations and ammunition load data for personal reference and match registration. This data is stored securely and is only visible to the account holder and authorised administrators. SAPRF does not verify, endorse, or assume responsibility for any equipment data submitted by users.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
  • SAPRF does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Platform.
  • SAPRF shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Platform.
  • SAPRF's total liability for any claim related to the Platform shall not exceed the membership fees you have paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SAPRF, its officers, directors, volunteers, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable law.

13. Termination

  • You may close your account at any time by contacting info@saprf.co.za.
  • SAPRF may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms, misconduct, or at our discretion with reasonable notice.
  • Upon termination, your competition records (scores, rankings, standings) will be retained as part of the Federation's official historical record in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

14. Modifications

SAPRF reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users or by a notice on the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
